Cybersecurity

Overview

The L&S Cybersecurity team works proactively to protect our College’s digital assets, research, and infrastructure. By collaborating closely with L&S IT staff, College leadership, and the central Division of Information Technology (DoIT), we offer a comprehensive suite of security services designed to mitigate risk and maintain a resilient computing environment.


What We Do

Continually strengthen and align college security practices by working closely with IT staff and monitoring security activity.

  • Review IT policy and compliance in the college.
  • Work closely with IT staff to strengthen and validate research security.
  • Communicate threats and environmental updates to the IT staff in the college.
  • Provide security overviews for your group or department.

Collaborate with UW-Madison campus groups to represent the college and coordinate campus-level processes.

  • Liaise with the Office of Cybersecurity on behalf of the college.
  • Work closely with the Chief Data Officer on sensitive and restricted data handling for faculty and staff in the college.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Cybersecurity’s Incident Response team to handle digital intrusions and incidents.
  • Work closely with the Risk Management & Compliance staff in the Office of Cybersecurity to provide risk reviews for new purchases of software, services, or datasets.
