About Us
The College of Letters & Science Information Technology Services (ITS) team is dedicated to advancing teaching, learning, outreach, and research in the College. Our talented and dedicated ITS staff collaborate closely with faculty, staff, and students. We provide essential services including cybersecurity consulting and risk mitigation, departmental support, systems engineering and administration, application development, research computing, and project management. Our work is rooted in a deep appreciation for the diversity of L&S and a firm belief in collaborative relationships that support the College’s academic, research, and public engagement-focused mission.
The ITS team was formed in 2026, bringing together IT professionals who previously worked directly for departments in the College and those who worked directly for L&S Administration. Our teams are prepared to assist with any IT-related request either through direct support or by directing requests to the appropriate service point. When in doubt, talk to your IT team, and we’ll help you find what you need.
ITS is comprised of six sub-units:
- Cybersecurity: Our cybersecurity team provides risk management and mitigation support throughout L&S and provides monitoring and incident response services.
- Department Support: This group provides IT service and support to L&S units. They are generally the first to respond to requests for assistance. Their proximity to the units they support ensures they understand the unique needs of L&S departments.
- System Engineering and Operations: This team manages the College computing infrastructure including administrative and research computing.
- Process Solutions and Innovation: They provide project management and cross-functional support by connecting people, resources, and information for administrative projects.
- Solutions Development and Innovation: These IT professionals develop and administer applications and services for College-scale initiatives and projects.
- Social Science Computing Core: This is a set of research computing services primarily focused on social science research backed by statistical consultants who specialize in this type of research. This team utilizes the research computing infrastructure maintained by the Systems Engineering and Operations team.
